In the Name of Allāh.
How do we react to the trend of discussion regarding the cyber Ummah? It now seems easy for a Muslim to seek explanations of the affairs of his Deen from the “scholar” internet. Is that a reasonable thing to do? Does that make one knowledgeable? It’s not everything named Islāmic piece on the internet that is good for consumption.
Please, don’t get me wrong. I’m only saying knowledge shouldn’t solely be sought from the internet especially when it may be difficult to identify the right information from the wrong. One shouldn’t forget that the “haters of Islām” are also ever ready to give great distortion of Islām when answering religious questions online.
Thence, the best is directly approaching a scholar one is sure of the correctness of his creed and not the internet (where anybody posts anything). Allāh praises the scholars saying (in Surah Az-Zumar [39] verse 9): “Say: ‘Are those who know equal to those who know not?’ It is only men of understanding who will remember (i.e. get a lesson from Allāh’s Signs and Verses).”
I hope this calls the attention of those affected by the aforementioned point. I beseech Allāh to protect us from misguidance. (Aameen)
