In the Name of Allāh.
As recorded by Imam Aḥmad (Raḥimahullāh) in his Musnad, A’ishah (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anha) narrated: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Indeed, graves embrace every dead person and if anyone will survive of it, it will be Sa’d Ibn Mu’ādh.”
By Allāh’s Grace, this morning, we shall look at the profile of one of the greatest people whom Allāh used to aid His Religion (Islām). This Sahabi had many virtues, one of which is that the Throne of Allāh shook (due to its love for him) when he died. [Check Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī and Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim]
His name is Abu ‘Amr Sa’d Ibn Mu’ādh Ibn An-Nu’mān Al-Ansāri (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu). He accepted Islām in Madīnah through Mus’ab Ibn ‘Umayr (the first envoy in Islām [Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu]). Equally, he addressed his people to follow suit and they all thus embraced Islām. Sa’d was a gutsy knight who partook in the battle of Badr, Uhud and Khandaq. He was powerful against the disbelievers in Makkah and intimidated its masters in their homes. He is one of the three persons among the tribe of Banu ‘Abdul-Ash’hal (of Madīnah) whom no one could excel in virtue, as said by our mother, A’ishah (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anha).
More so, he was one of the eminent figures and heroes of Islām conferred with intellectual qualities and thus adept at offering a personal opinion to solve problems through their Ijtihād (Allāh-given juristic reasoning or insight). Sa’d died at the age of 37 as one of the noblest martyrs. He indeed lived a productive life. It was said the Prophet (ﷺ) told people that he is one of the people of Paradise.
I beseech Allāh to be Especially Merciful to Sa’d Ibn Mu’adh. (Aameen)
