In the Name of Allāh.

Today, some husbands have wrongly placed their jobs over their families. But, no woman wants a husband who is married to his job. Should such husbands terminate their jobs to make their marriages work? Some wives wouldn’t mind paying their husbands to ordinarily smile at them when at home because they don’t do it. However, they smile and give concentration to customers, behave nicely to bosses and buy gifts for co-workers, because they are paid. It’s even worse when those at home become terrified with fear when they are around. What’s the essence of the outsiders praising them as good persons whilst they are bad at home? If those in their homes can’t attest that they are good, then indeed they are bad. As recorded in Sunan al-Tirmidhī, the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “The best of you is he who is best to his family…”

Please, husbands should not give Shaytan the chance to rip the good relationship between them and their families apart. Rather, it should be planted well, watered and fertilized with love, mercy, attention, appreciation, gift giving, good communication, taking correction, etc. They should know that they are working to enjoy their marriages – it shouldn’t be otherwise.
