HE MET THE PROPHET (ﷺ)

In continuance with the Seerah (biography) of ‘AbduLlah Ibn Salam. Did Allah grant his request? Yes! Allah did. He allowed him to live to meet the Prophet of Guidance and Mercy (ﷺ). When ‘AbduLlah Ibn Salam heard about the appearance of the Prophet (ﷺ) in Makkah, he kept inquiring about his name, position, characters and place, to see if those things all match to what was written in their books, until he made sure of his prophecy and the honesty of his call. He concealed the whole matter from the Jews and held his tongue so as not to whisper one word until the day the Prophet (ﷺ) left Makkah for Madinah.

When the Prophet (ﷺ) reached Madinah, he stayed in Quba and a man came to the people to announce his arrival. ‘AbduLlah Ibn Salam was on top of his palm tree at that moment doing his work and his aunt, Khalidah bint Al-Harith was sitting beneath the tree. When he heard the news, he couldn’t stop but shouting, “Allahu Akbar!” When his aunt heard his Takbir, she said: “May Allah disappoint you! By Allah, if you had heard that Musa Ibn ‘Imran (i.e. Prophet Musa [‘Alayhi Salam]) is coming, you wouldn’t have done more.”

He replied: “Oh Aunt, by Allah, he surely is Musa Ibn ‘Imran’s brother, following the same religion! He’s sent with what he was also sent!” His Aunt was silent for a while and asked if he’s the Prophet he used to inform them about that will be sent to affirm what was sent before him and complete the message of his Lord?” He replied, yes!

‘AbduLlah Ibn Salam went to the spot to see the Prophet (ﷺ) and people were crowding him. He pressed until he got close to him. The first thing he heard from the Prophet (ﷺ) was: “Oh people, spread greetings, feed people, pray in the night when people sleep; then you will enter Al-Jannah peacefully.” Let’s stop here and continue next week, Allah willing. I beseech Allah to be Especially Merciful to ‘AbduLlah Ibn Salam. (Aameen)
