In the Name of Allāh.
Verily, part of the legacy of the Prophet (ﷺ) was to gather his companions in the Masjid after Fajr or ‘Asr prayer in the stillness of knowledge, of understanding, of learning.
What good is a Muslim by name alone, who clings to the shell of Islām, but neglects the pearl within? This is because Muslims are obligated to learn. Anas Ibn Mālik reported: The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said, “Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.” [Sunan Ibn Mājah 224]
However, what sadness, what despair, that many Muslims today have turned their backs on the Prophet’s example, on creating sittings of knowledge and learning the religion which is our birthright, our salvation. Sadly, people rather flock to the gatherings of innovation, of misguidance, chasing after mirages of piety, of salvation, when the wellspring of knowledge flows before them.
Won’t you experience shock and sadness when a Muslim can’t conveniently mention the five pillars of Islām? Or even talk about where Allāh is. Basic things! By Allāh! Many Muslims today are ignorant of Islām – they are just Muslims by name and during the festivity (of Islām).
I beseech Allāh, the Most Beneficient, to guide us back to the path of the Prophet (ﷺ), to the light of knowledge. Aameen
