DURING MENSTRUAL PERIOD

In the Name of Allāh.

Have you seen how life gets grim for the one who rejects the Straight Way? I sometimes fall about over the heretic ways of the strayed. In Judaism, for instance, the Jews have total rejection for their women when in menses – so much that they even disallow their garments to touch theirs. Special thanks to Allāh for the blessing of Islam.

In Islām, there is a strict warning of imitating non-Muslims. First, we need to know that it’s unlawful by the ‘Ijma (consensus) of the Muslim scholars due to explicit texts of the Qur’ān and Ḥadīth, to have sexual intercourse with one’s wife during menses. It’s medically proven to be detrimental.

However, when a Muslim woman is having her menstruation, her husband should not completely abandon her (as the Jewish men do). In fact, a Muslim man can hug, kiss, touch, and derive sexual pleasure from his menstruating wife. He’s only not to have sex with her (i.e. skin-to-skin contact of the genitals – the area between her navel and knees) until after her menstrual period.

Allāh says (in Sūrah Al-Baqarah [2] verse 222): “…Therefore keep away from women during menses and go not unto them till they have purified (from menses and have taken bath). And when they have purified themselves, then go in unto them as Allah has ordained for you.” This is Islam!

I beseech Allāh to make us better Muslims. Aameen
