In the Name of Allāh.
Think about it; 150 years from today, everyone presently living will be beneath the ground. You can do the math. At that time, strangers may be living in our houses. People may not even remember us anymore. How many of us think of our great-grandfather? We will become history while many people might have forgotten our names and looks.
Again, at that time, we’ll realize how ignorant we were and not good the dream of trying to get everything was. Some (particularly the criminals) would wish to be granted respite to spend it only on doing good deeds (not to make more money), but it would be too late. Allāh informs (in Sūrah Al-Mumenoon [23] verses 99-100): Until, when death comes to one of them (those who join partners with Allah), he says: “My Lord! Send me back, so that I may do good in that which I have left behind!” No! It is but a word that he speaks, and behind them is Barzakh (a barrier) until the Day when they will be resurrected.
Keep in mind that today, we have the opportunity to do good for ourselves and others. Such may not be available tomorrow. Ibn Abbas (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhuma) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Take advantage of five before five: your youth before your old age, your health before your illness, your riches before your poverty, your free time before your work, and your life before your death.”
Once death knocks, that’s the end! I beseech Allāh to grant us a productive life and make us end it upon His Pleasure. (Aameen)
