EMBRACING TRUE ISLĀMIC KNOWLEDGE

In the Name of Allāh.

In the vast ocean of social media, the waves of falsehood and deception rise high, seeking to mislead and misguide those who tread its waters with ignorance and gullibility. Be not deceived by the glittering lure of the cyber Ummah, for not all knowledge is true, not all understanding is deep.

Today, there are a lot of acclaimed scholars of Islām who are only displaying a disgraceful ignorance. Sadly, these charlatans are the most respected, listened to, and trusted. I wonder when this gullibility will end! Shaykh Al-Albāni (Raḥimahullāh) said: “The Muslims of today can’t differentiate between things. They think that one is an ‘Ālim just because one talks.” [Silsilatul Hudā wan-Nūr 852]

O Muslims! Let us walk the path and embrace the light of knowledge and understanding, guided by the wisdom of true scholars, whose knowledge is deep and pure, whose hearts and minds are attuned to the words and wisdom of the Qur’ān and the Sunnah, whose understanding is steeped in the traditions of our beloved Prophet (ﷺ), and not the shallow understanding of those who know not the wisdom of our faith. Allāh praises the scholars saying: “Say: ‘Are those who know equal to those who know not?’ It is only men of understanding who will remember (i.e. get a lesson from Allāh’s Signs and Verses).” [Sūrah Az-Zumar (39): 9]

More so, let us strive to be among those who implement knowledge and do many good deeds. In this, lies the path to a life of beauty, of truth, of peace and contentment. Allāh says: “As for those who strive hard in Us (Our Cause), We will surely guide them to Our Path (i.e. Allāh’s Religion – Islāmic Monotheism). And verily, Allāh is with the Muhsinun (good doers).” [Sūrah Al-‘Ankabūt (29): 69]

I beseech Allāh to guide us all and grant us the wisdom and understanding to walk the Straight Path, ever mindful of the dangers of ignorance and deception, of the perils that lie in wait for those who are astray. Aameen.
