AND BE PATIENT!

In the Name of Allāh.

Perfect Praise is due to Allāh Who created time and has made certain periods better than others when rewards are hugely multiplied, as a mercy towards His slaves. This motivates them to worship Him and do more righteous deeds, in preparation for death and the Day of Qiyammah and a greater share of the reward. And our Lord loses not the reward of the good-doers.

As recorded in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 969, Ibn Abbas (RadiyaLlahu ‘Anhum) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “No good deeds are better than what is done in these first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.” Some companions of the Prophet said, “Not even Jihad in the way of Allāh?” The Prophet said, “Not even Jihad in the way of Allāh, except for a man who goes out with his life and wealth at risk and he returns with nothing.”

Imam Ibn Kathir (RahimahuLlāh) explained that the above Hadith and others indicate that these ten days are better than all the other days of the year, with no exceptions, not even the last ten days of Ramadan. But the last ten nights of Ramadan are better because they include Laylat al-Qadr (“the Night of Decree”), which is better than a thousand months. Thus the various reports may be reconciled. [See Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 5/412]

However, following the right path and maintaining it requires patience – striving upon ‘Eeman and good deeds, bearing the difficulties that sometimes come with worship, ensuring not to disobey Allāh in things He has prohibited, etc. Similarly, awaiting the time Allāh has set for the fulfilment of His promises (of reward) requires patience. Thus, Allāh says (in Surah Hud [11] verse 115): “And be patient; verily, Allāh loses not the reward of the good-doers.“

It only requires patience, we’ll enter Jannah, by His Grace, when the angels shall enter unto us from every gate (saying): “Salamun ‘Alaykum (peace be upon you) for that you persevered in patience! Excellent indeed is the final home!“ Our Lord is Ever-Truthful, He won’t let waste the reward of our good deeds.

I beseech Allāh to bless us with doing more and better acts of good in this blessed period and accept them from us. (Aameen)
