A CALL TO RELIANCE ON ALLĀH

In the Name of Allāh.

At times, it becomes difficult for individuals to muster the necessary courage when facing trials. Many express deep frustration towards Allāh and overstep their bounds by seeking assistance from other than Him, instead of offering gratitude and supplication for His Help. Ultimately, no one can aid them except Allāh. As stated in the Qur’ān: “And if Allāh touches you with hurt, none can remove it but He; and if He intends any good for you, none can repel His Favor which He causes it to reach whomsoever of His slaves He will. And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” [Sūrah Yūnus (10): 107]

Some may contend that certain trials are particularly difficult to endure. However, what truly matters is having unwavering faith and reliance on Allāh when confronted with challenges. Allāh says: “And whosoever puts his trust in Allāh, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allāh will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allāh has set a measure for all things.” [Sūrah At-Ṭalāq (65) Verse 3]

My dear brothers and sisters, let us remind ourselves that the trials set by Allāh are simply tests of our faith, reflecting our determination. Regardless of how intense the tempest may become, we must not give in to despair; remember that despair is a companion of Shayṭān. Imām Ibn al-Jawzi (Raḥimahullāh) wisely remarked: “Never despair of the Mercy of Allāh, even if the trial is long!” [Sayd al-Khātir (p. 439)]

Indeed, life can be a tumultuous sea, with trials akin to its crashing waves. But take heart, for Allāh is our Guide amidst the darkness. We must recognize that all events unfold according to His Divine Decree.

I earnestly beseech Allāh to enhance our faith, strengthen our hearts, and equip us with the resilience to confront any trials that may lie ahead. Aameen!
