In the Name of Allāh.
Islām is a significant favor bestowed upon us by Allāh, and it also represents trust from Him. Indeed, Allāh will inquire about our adherence to it. As mentioned in the Qur’ān: “…while they (i.e. people) will be questioned.” [Sūrah Al-Anbiyā’ (21): 23]
One of the gravest calamities, in my view, is when a Muslim disavows Islām and turns to Kufr (disbelief). Why is this so alarming? It is because Islām is often perceived as a strict faith with serious regulations – such as the prohibition against associating anything with Allāh, engaging in magic, committing adultery and fornication, practicing usury (interest), consuming intoxicants, or misappropriating the property of orphans. These are just a few examples of the rules intended for our protection.
Does it not seem illogical for someone to worship a creation, like themselves, rather than the Creator? When intoxicants impair one’s mind and soul, who truly suffers the consequences? What is more valuable to you — a healthy family or a broken one?
It’s important to note that a person’s disobedience does not diminish the Majesty of our Lord. Therefore, following His Commands is ultimately for our own benefit. Allāh reassures us in the Qur’ān: “We ask not of you a provision (i.e., to give Us something: money, etc.); We provide for you. And the good end (i.e., Paradise) is for the Muttaqūn (i.e., the pious one).” [Sūrah Taha (20): 132]
Dear believers, recognize the illuminating path of Islām, a beacon that lights our journey. We must not be led astray by the enticing whispers of Shayṭān, as his deceptions are boundless and the paths of ruin are extensive. Instead, let us firmly hold onto the support of faith and, with unwavering determination, traverse the perilous waters that threaten our devotion.
Consider this humble advice and reflect on whether you are genuinely obeying Allāh.
I beseech Allāh to grant us tranquility as we follow His Commands, protect us from the tumultuous waves of temptation, and guide us toward the peaceful joy of Paradise. Aameen.
