In the Name of Allāh.
Our reality here is real, just as the existence of life beyond this one is also real, accompanied by various challenges. The ultimate destination — be it Paradise or Hell — rests upon an individual’s choices. Should we merely wish for Paradise without encountering trials along the way?
Be cautious, my fellow brethren, for the journey to Paradise is fraught not with ease but rather with struggle and sacrifice. The tests that confront us and the doubts that linger in our hearts serve as indicators of our faith and the trials of our character.
A significant challenge that I know is the departure from this temporary life while being a Muslim. We understand that faith comprises different levels: Islām (being a Muslim), Eemān (being a Mu’mīn), and ‘Iḥsān (being a Muḥsin). Achieving the status of Mu’mīn or Muḥsin demands great effort and struggle. Nevertheless, Allāh advises us not to overlook the least, we should at the very least identify as Muslims. He states: “…And die not except in a state (i.e. Faith) of Islām (as Muslims) with complete submission to Allāh.” [Sūrah Aal-‘Imrān (3): 102]
In reality, even being a Muslim poses challenges, with negative influences urging disobedience and leading one toward Hell. However, we must strive and make sacrifices. Keeping our eyes on the ultimate goal —Paradise — while disregarding distractions is crucial.
I beseech Allāh to bestow upon us the patience and strength needed to navigate our struggles, to grant us guidance and wisdom in our pursuits, for it is only through His Grace and Mercy that we may attain the eternal tranquility of Jannah. Aameen.
