In the Name of Allāh.
This message is not intended to instill fear, as I share the same concern for my soul, burdened by my numerous shortcomings. What will I face when I am laid in the grave, finally confronting my Lord on that Day? It is crucial and urgent that I address this matter. Often, we primarily focus on Allāh’s Attribute of Mercy, overlooking the fact that He is also the Most Severe in punishment. Allāh says: “Verily, the Grip (Punishment) of your Lord is severe.” [Sūrah Al-Burūj (85): 12]
Anas Ibn Mālik narrated that the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) stated, “Paradise and Hellfire were shown to me and I have never seen such good or evil as I have today. If you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep often.” [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2359]
Imām Al-Qurṭubī (Raḥimahullāh) explained: “And his saying (ﷺ), ‘If you knew what I know, you would laugh little and cry a lot’ refers to the knowledge of matters concerning the Hereafter, the intensity of its horrors, and what is prepared in Hell in terms of torment and punishment, as well as the bliss and reward waiting in Paradise. He (ﷺ) saw and understood all of this; hence, he was often sorrowful, laughed little, and mostly smiled.” [Al-Mufhim (2/557)]
I find myself deeply pondering about the FINAL DAY. Ā‘ishah (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anha) reported that the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said, “The people will be gathered barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised.” When I asked, “O Messenger of Allāh, will the men and women look at each other?” The Prophet replied, “The matter will be too serious for them to notice.” [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6075, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 5107]
So, what are we contemplating? O brethren, let the alarm bells regarding the Final Day ring profoundly in our hearts, for it is the Day of Reckoning, when the curtains of the Hereafter will be lifted, revealing the secrets of our souls. The Day of Judgment is undeniably real; it is the Day when the scales of justice will measure our deeds, and the record of our lives will be presented for assessment.
Therefore, dear brethren, let us not be distracted by the ephemeral nature of this world, which is merely a fleeting illusion — a mirage fading into the sands of time. Instead, we should immerse ourselves in the flames of piety and righteousness, for they will lead us to the gates of Paradise and protect us from the scorching heat of Hellfire.
It is only in Allāh’s Light that we can find salvation, both in this world and in the Hereafter. I beseech Him to guide us, strengthen our resolve, and grant us the wisdom to traverse the path of righteousness. Aameen.
