In the Name of Allāh.
Tremble not at the mention of death, for it serves as a bridge linking our transient existence to the eternal world that lies ahead. Have you come across anyone who has been granted immortality? Not! Even the beloved Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) is not exempt. Death is a fate that all must embrace.
All perfect praise belongs to Allāh, Who has bestowed upon us life following a journey through temporary death. Indeed, to Him, we shall eventually return. Allāh states: “And we granted not to any human being immortality before you (Muḥammad); then if you die, would they live forever? Everyone is going to taste death, and we shall make a trial of you with evil and with good, and to us, you will be returned.” [Sūrah Al-Anbiyā’ (21): 34-35]
Death is certainly inevitable, and no one will be exempt from it. Allāh declares: “Everything will perish save His Face. His is the Decision, and to Him, you (all) shall be returned.” [Sūrah Al-Qasas (28): 88] Acknowledging that we will all return to Him, what preparations are we making for the future? Dear brethren, let the remembrance of death, existence in the grave, and the trials of the Day of Requital drive us to consistently perform good deeds and refrain from bad ones. Let us endeavor to ready ourselves for the Hereafter, for we must bear the goodness and the challenges that this life presents, and it is to Allāh that we will account for our actions.
I beseech Allāh to grant us the resilience to fulfill our responsibilities in this life and to end our journey blissfully. May He bestow upon us His eternal Mercy in the Hereafter. When the Angel of Death approaches, may we greet him with joy, knowing that we have strived to please our Lord. Aameen!
