A CHERISHED GIFT

In the Name of Allāh.

As we differ not about the Qur’ān, then we shouldn’t regarding the Sunnah (teachings) of our Prophet (ﷺ) because the Sunnah itself is also Islām. Allah says: “Say (O Muḥammad to mankind): “If you (really) love Allāh the follow me (i.e. accept Islāmic Monotheism, follow the Qur’ān and Sunnah), Allāh will love you and forgive you of your sins…” [Sūrah Aal-‘Imrān (3): 31]

Verily, the Words of Allāh and His Prophet (ﷺ) are our guiding lights, our compasses in a sea of confusion, a sea of despair. So, isn’t it a pathetic situation for the one who only accepts the Qur’ān, and rejects the Sunnah? What is he trying to prove? It also exists in this Ummah, Muslims who blatantly dishonor the Sunnah. They will ridiculously comment: “Isn’t it Sunnah?” – as if it were a mere trifle or afterthought. This is the state of the Ummah in the 14th century. Verily, our pious predecessors were not of such behavior.

As the manual to a machine guides its use, so too do the two manuals of our lives; the Qur’ān and Sunnah containing rules and instructions from our Maker (i.e. Allāh), guide our lives, our faith, our understanding of how to productively live in the world and to later be admitted into Jannah. Mālik reported: The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said, “I have left you with two matters which will never lead you astray, as long as you hold to them: the Book of Allāh and the Sunnah of his Prophet.” [al-Muwaṭṭa’ 1661]

I beseech Allāh to cleanse our hearts from filths. Aameen
