In the Name of Allāh.
O people, remember the Day of Judgment that awaits us all when the heaven shall be rent asunder with (emerging) clouds, when the angels will be sent down with a grand descending, when the trumpet is blown, and when the graves will burst open.
On that Day, all deeds will be revealed, examined, and judged. The righteous will find comfort in Allāh’s Mercy, while the unrighteous will face the Fire, the terror of their deeds. Indeed, to remember this Day is to reflect upon its weight and its consequences is to ignite within us a burning desire to rightly believe and do good deeds.
More so, in this remembrance, we’ll find the strength to resist temptation (or put our worldly desires in check), to turn away from sin, to walk in the footsteps of the Prophet (ﷺ). Notably, any worldly pursuit that won’t contribute to the good of our Hereafter should be abandoned. ’Abdul A’lā At-Taymī (Raḥimahullāh) said: “Two things which prevented me from (enjoying) the sweetness of the worldly life are remembering death, and (remembering) standing before Allāh.” [Siyar A’lam An-Nubala: 5/88]
I beseech Allāh to make this reminder a source of peace, comfort, and repentance for us. Aameen
