Nourishing your soul.

PREPARING FOR ETERNITY

In the Name of Allāh.

Life is but a fleeting abode, a mist that dissipates in the morning sun. Heed this reminder, and let it ring loudly in your ears. Verily, no matter how high your towers of success and achievement, no matter how strong the walls of your worldly accomplishments, death will find you, will claim you, will call you to the Hereafter. Allāh says: “Wherever you may be, death will overtake you even if you are in fortresses built up strong and high!” [Sūrah An-Nisa (4): 78]

O mankind, do not waste your precious moments in idle chatter and frivolous pursuits, in the darkness of Shayṭān and his minions. Instead, rise, and embrace the Light of Allāh, the path of righteousness, the call of the Hereafter. It is your faith, your deeds, your commitment to Allāh’s Commands that will determine your place in the Hereafter, the fate of your soul in eternity.

So, make a promise to yourself, hold yourself to a higher standard, a standard of goodness and piety, of devotion and faith. Let your daily plans be focused on the Hereafter, let your aspirations be those of righteousness and wisdom, and let your life be a testament to your love for Allāh, to your submission to His Will. The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said: “Whoever makes all of his concerns focus on one thing — the concern of Hereafter — then Allāh will suffice him for the rest of his concerns and whoever has all of his concerns branching off from the affairs of the world then Allāh does not care which valley of it he dies in.” [Mukhtaṣar Ṣaḥīḥ al-Jāmi’ as-Ṣaghīr 6189]

The Hereafter awaits us all, and it is only through faith and righteous deeds that we can prepare for its arrival. I beseech Allāh to grant us the strength and the wisdom to walk in His Way, to live our lives in submission to Him, and to find in His Mercy and Grace the goodness of this life and the later life. Aameen.
