In the Name of Allāh.
Oh, the sublime beauty of Islām! It stands out amongst all the acclaimed religions, not bound to a place, person, or language. Islām, the only divine religion is given its name and directly connected to the One and Only True God, Allāh – the Lord of the Majestic Throne, the Creator of all that exists. “Truly, the religion with Allāh is Islām.” [Sūrah Aal-‘Imrān (3): 19]
Unlike Christians who worship Christ and Buddhists who worship Buddha, Muslims only worship Allāh, the Master of the Universe. And, despite our love and respect for Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ), we don’t worship him. We know that he is a human too, but a Messenger of Allāh, sent to deliver His Message to humanity. Allāh commanded him to say: “I am only a human being like you. It is inspired in me that your Ilah (God) is One Ilah (God – Allāh), therefore take the Straight Path to Him…” [Sūrah Fussilat (41): 6]
What a clear religion! As we marvel at the uniqueness of Islām, let us remember that Islām is not just a religion, but also a way of life. It is the path to worship Allāh Alone, seek closeness to Him, and obtain eternal bliss in the Hereafter. So, let us wholeheartedly embrace Islām and hold fast to the Qur’ān and Sunnah, seeking the Guidance and Mercy of Allāh. Mālik reported: The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said, “I have left you with two matters which will never lead you astray, as long as you hold to them: the Book of Allāh and the Sunnah of His Prophet.” [al-Muwaṭṭa’ 1661]
More so, dear brethren, let us not forget that the beauty of Islām lies in its simplicity and its universality. It is a religion for all, a path to salvation, regardless of race, gender, or background. Thus, we should strive to be the best ambassadors of Islām, to spread far and wide its message of sound beliefs (Tawḥīd), sincere acts of worship (‘Ibādat), and excellent manners (Akhlāq), and be a beacon of light to those who are lost (from the Straight Path).
