TAKING THE BLESSINGS

In the Name of Allāh.

Oh, the immeasurable blessing of Islām! Indeed, it showers us with plentiful opportunities for good deeds, and the reward for such acts is beyond our wildest dreams. Take Jumu’ah, for instance, the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever bathes, then comes to Jumu’ah, then prays whatever was written for him, then listens silently until the Imām finishes the Khutbah, then prays with the Imām, Allāh will forgive his sins which he had committed between the previous Jumu’ah and the present one, plus three more days after that…” [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 857]

Subḥānallāh, how Merciful is our Creator that He bestows such a blessing upon us, just for participating in Jumu’ah prayer! Imagine the forgiveness of our sins simply by listening attentively to the Khutbah and observing the prayer! And this is just one of the many ways in which Islām grants us the opportunity of goodness, for amassing oodles of boon from Allāh. So let us seize these opportunities before they slip away like grains of sand in an hourglass.

As we do the above, let us also strive to perfect our acts of worship to ensure that we are not just going through the physical parts, but truly engaging with the spiritual essence of the acts. For example, let us purify ourselves before Jumu’ah, not just physically with a bath, but also spiritually with constant repentance and renewal of our faith. Let us hasten to the worship of Allāh, pray with sincerity, letting our hearts and minds be fully immersed in it, seizing the blessings that He has placed before us.

More so, we should not forget the lessons we get in today’s Khutbah. Indeed, the knowledge we gain from the Khutbah can be a source of guidance and inspiration for us throughout our lives.

I beseech Allāh to make us proactive and productive, forgive our shortcomings, and keep guiding us on the path to His Pleasure. Aameen.
